I’m not going to pretend that what sits behind this site is a large group of people employed by a company with stacks of cash. It’s a one man band and for many years, I have wanted to write a journal and share it among my community. However, I never found an honest platform which not only gave me the means to write in private or publicly but which also allowed me to create my own community of readers to whom I could publish my content.
It seems that since the early 2020’s traditional social media platform providers have been gradually moving focus away from the customers who make them what they are to the owners and shareholders whose interests are focused on profit. The notions of true community reach and user control over publishing have largely become alien constructs to them. I used to be able to post content and be sure that my intended audience would see it….. but no longer. Algorithms and AI abound. All focussed on one thing: Money.
Why Nobody's Diary ?
Nobody’s Diary meets my need to provide a quiet place in which to reliably and confidently write, publish and distribute to my community in a way I can control and which is un-incumbered by advertising, so called Artificial Intelligence and presumptious algorithms. It provides all the usual social media functions which allow you to post content, gain a following, publish, control access to and additionally maintain a traditional blog.
